The joint project of the Institute of Production Management at Leibniz University Hannover and Nordex Energy GmbH is concerned with the planning of rotor blade maintenance processes on onshore wind turbines. Methods from the field of operations research will be used to develop a procedure for scheduling and sequencing the maintenance processes required on rotor blades of onshore wind turbines. Currently, the limited capacity in the maintenance planning process – for example, the limited availability of service teams – is not considered systematically. This gap will be closed by combining the practical knowledge of Nordex Energy GmbH and the methodological expertise of the Institute of Production Management. The aim is to exploit the potential for improvement in the design of rotor blade maintenance processes for wind turbines.
