Scientific Computing

You can take the course Scientific Computing at the Institute of Production Management in the following ways:

Winter semester

In the winter semester, you can gain credit for Scientific Computing by combining the two courses “Implementation of OM Models and Processes in Python (5 CP)” and “Implementation of OM Models and Processes in Python - Advanced Project (5 CP)”. Here you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the development of Python code and deepen your knowledge in an independent project. Please note that both courses must be completed in the same semester and that the number of places is limited. Information on registration can be found here.

Summer semester

In the summer semester, you can have the course "Operations Research II - Advanced methods of linear and integer programming (10 CP)" credited as Scientific Computing. Here you will learn to program exact optimization methods for linear and integer programs using the C++ interface of the SCIP framework and, in particular, to construct branch-cut-and-price algorithms.

Individual work, e.g. resulting from a bachelor's thesis or seminar paper at the institute, can be discussed with the institute staff at any time with a suitable topic proposal.
